John Torque. The Man, The Legend. Torque is a very well-balanced character, even better than other all-rounders. Not too slow , not too poorly armoured and with reasonable avoidance, Torque is good for beginners and experts. Because he's pretty good all-round, a variety of tactics are available. Firstly, ramming is certainly an option, although it's probably best to keep it to cars the same size or smaller than Torque himself. As with smaller cars, he can also hit-and-run, a tactic that's effective against larger enemies.

Torque bought the best car stereo money could buy and he needed the right speaker box to go with it. This custom-made bad boy has enough bass to ripple the earth!'

The Bass Quake is one of the coolest weapons in the game, if only for the superb real-time ripple effect it produces. On firing the weapon, a seismic shockwave emanates from Torques car. The wave rises to a point, then subsides. Knowing where the 'top' of the wave occurs is key to making the most of the weapon. Basically, it's about a cars' length away from Torques' car and the closer the enemy is to the crest the further they'll be thrown. // The weapon itself is useful in two ways - it throws the enemy into the air, plus it damages them. Effective ways to use the Bass Quake include firing it to catch runaway opponents, or even better, if you're in the middle of a pileup. Just be sure to try and position yourself about a cars length away to do maximum damage. If your opponent gets thrown high into the air, use your radar to track them as they fall to the ground and you might even be able to get some more hits in when they land. The biggest chance for you to inflict some damage is when they land on their roof, hell, hit 'em with another quake if you can! // Finally, a warning. Torque himself can get caught in the blast, particularly if you fire the 'quake when your moving (basically, you'll just run into the wave.) To avoid this, try and make sure you're stationary whenever you fire it, as there's a safe 'island' just around Torque when it fires. As long as you don't move too much when you fire, the most you should experience is a slight tremor.
